deTour leRace

This is my take on the iconic Christchurch - Akaroa Race and a nod to a stage of Le Tour.

130kms with some significant climbing and jaw dropping vistas.

Sunday 25 February 2017

This will be a semi-supported, no drop, guided ride with a musette of goodies and a lift back to Christchurch from Akaroa.

Great warm up for Le Race!

The cost will be $80 per person.
$ includes guiding, transport, musette and some goodies.

What's On Offer

Are you an intermediate or experienced cyclist visiting Christchurch, Canterbury or the West Coast of the South Island of New Zealand?

Not sure where to ride?
Looking for the local trails; the good earth; the hidden treasures and secret trails?
Look no further...

Alto Cycle Tours can provide an opportunity for expert guidance and fun whilst we show you the local rides and sights in Christchurch, Canterbury and the West Coast whether it is on a Mountain Bike, a Road Bike or something in-between (gravel/bike-packing.)

Come and experience the Monuments of Canterbury and the West Coast – you can pick from 7x Monuments on the Mountain Bike, 4x Monuments on Road, and 6x Monuments on Gravel, no matter what the weather, we can offer you something.

Rides can be a half day (up to four hours riding) or a full day (over 5 hours) adventure. Distances and terrains varies, we can tailor an experience to suit your skill and fitness level.
We can offer a mixture of set tours or as booked/impromptu but we can customise any package to meet your needs and time commitment.

Here are some pictures of what you can expect!

Come and experience an all day adventures (and yes we do mean all day.) We will pick you up, show you a great time, and them take you home with plenty of great memories. You bring your bike, the camera and all your kit. If you don’t have your bike with you, we can help you get an appropriate bike to bring out.

Because of the mixture and types of terrain in New Zealand, we recommend compact gearing on your road bike (unless you have legs of iron) and a full suspension mountain bike (130mm or so) and grippy tyres for your mountain bike. High Volume tyres and a good range of gears are a good idea for all of your adventures with us. We can offer advice about your needs and a detailed gear list will be provided on booking/enquiries.

Alto Cycle Tours is aimed at riders who want to experience the real deal, the hidden gems, the jungle, the back country, the LOTR scenery New Zealand is famous for. We deliver for cyclists who can ride and who want to be shown the local trails and who wish to be looked after to a high standard. Rides designed by cyclists who want to show off their land and love to share the experience.
